Terms of Service

Last updated: November 6, 2026

These terms cover the xpnd website (xpnd.dev) and the xpnd macOS application. The short version: xpnd is free, open-source software provided as-is, and this site exists to describe it and link you to downloads.

The software

xpnd is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under the terms of that license. The license text in the GitHub repository is the authoritative version and governs your use of the software. The app also includes components under their own licenses, such as FreeRDP and OpenSSL (Apache 2.0), and those licenses ship with the app.

No warranty

As the MIT License states, the software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. You use xpnd at your own risk, and neither the maintainer nor any contributor is liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the software or its use.

What runs is yours

xpnd does what you set it up to do: it types into the app in front, runs the scripts and Shortcuts your snippets name, and opens the connections you’ve saved, including their SSH options and jump hosts. You’re responsible for what those do, on your Mac and on the machines you connect to, and for having permission to connect to them. Read a snippet or connection file from someone else before you import it; xpnd shows you what will run first, but it can’t tell you whether it’s safe.

The website

Content on this site is provided for general information. Version numbers, release notes, and download details are pulled automatically from GitHub and may occasionally lag behind or differ from the repository, which is the source of truth. Downloads are served from GitHub Releases, not from this site.

Donations

Donations are optional, one-time, and processed by Stripe. They help feed a dog; they don’t buy support, features, or anything else, and xpnd stays free either way.

Third-party services

This site and the app work with services operated by others: GitHub for source code, issues, and downloads, Stripe for donations, and 1Password if you use it for credentials. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies. xpnd isn’t made by or affiliated with 1Password or Microsoft.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
